BSc Hons / MSc in Food Science. 1-3 years’ work experience in a lab-based analytical testing. Experienced in research and preparing, running & reporting on R&D projects. Experience running trials, analysing samples, and evaluating R&D results in small, medium & large-scale industry setting. Independent trouble shooting & reporting experience. Strong communication skills. Organised, self-motivated, enjoys structure and routine work. SA Citizen.

A well-established, proudly South African Food Ingredient company are looking to hire a Food Scientist to join their Technical Innovation team. The role involves planning and executing R&D trials, running suites of lab-based analytical tests, systematically analysing, and reporting results, and communicating these findings. Other aspects to the role include research and development into current and potentially new raw materials, development of standard operating procedures for lab analyses and assisting with testing and production of raw materials for pilot and/or the commercial factory.
    • BSc Hons / MSc in Food Science
    • Proven analytical lab & research experience, testing food ingredients  
    • 1-3 years in a relevant industrial / factory / lab working environment
    • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Highly analytical thinker, works with accuracy, attention to detail
    • Rigorous work ethic, resilient, enjoys structure & routine
    • Highly computer literate, MS Excel, Word etc.
    • Excellent communication skills, written & verbal
    • SA citizen
** Due to the nature of the products sampled and tasted while working in this role, candidates need to be able to eat meat (including pork products).
