ESSENTIALS
BSc Hons or BTech (Molecular Biology, Human Genetics or related), at least 3 years’ laboratory experience, focusing on molecular biology and pharmacogenetics (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, Sequencing), must have worked in human genetics, have good communication skills, driver’s license, and own transport. Candidates already residing in Cape Town preferred.

DETAILS
A dynamic and growing Medical Biotechnology company requires a molecular biologist with proven experience in human genetics & hands-on experience in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR / DNA sequencing. The scope of the role includes molecular lab benchwork according to in-house SOPs & research project timelines. Other responsibilities will include lab work planning, stock control, ordering, equipment monitoring/service scheduling and general support of senior scientists with development of assays. The company is a leader in their field and provides specialist analytical services, including pharmacogenomic analyses within the clinical and pharmaceutical industry across the globe.
REQUIREMENTS
    • BSc Hons Or BTech in Medical Biochemistry / Molecular Biology or related.
    • 3 years’ experience in relevant lab-based technical role running & analysing genetic assays (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, sequencing).
    • Experience in cell culture & sequencing data.
    • Excellent communication skills in English.
    • South African citizenship + valid driver’s license.
    • Ideal personal attributes: Strong attention to detail, critical thinker, excellent interpersonal skills, decisive, ability to handle pressure, interact & function well in a highly productive work environment.
    • Flexible to workdays and weekends on shift rotation basis.
