ESSENTIALS
Tertiary qualification (ND / BSc / MSc) in Chemistry or related PLUS ~5 years’ experience in an ISO 17025 commercial testing lab, with extensive hands-on GC-MS & LC-MS experience. Must have validations experience for ISO, be an RSA citizen. Highly computer literate, must reside in CT already. (Unfortunately, relocation will not be considered).
 
 
Location:  Paarl, Western Cape
Salary: Based on experience (+ benefits after 3 months’ probation)
 
DETAILS
Our client is an established ISO 17025 accredited commercial analytical testing lab who service the surrounding water, wastewater, mining, agricultural, viticulture and food and beverage industries. The ideal candidate will have 5 years’ experience in a commercial testing lab analysing a wide variety of analytical samples using GC-MS & LC-MS. Previous troubleshooting, method optimisation & validation experience with GC-MS & LC-MS is crucial for this role, which will include the following:
        • Routine sample preparation & running both the GC-MS & LC-MS
        • Analysis, interpretation & compilation of results & analytical reporting
        • Conducting validation assays & related troubleshooting & optimisations
        • Instrument monitoring, calibration, maintenance and problem solving
        • Performing lab-based duties & following company QMS/SOP regulations
        • Updating QC charts, taking part in proficiency testing, updating LIMS
        • Training & mentoring of junior staff
 
 
REQUIREMENTS
    • Matric + tertiary qualification (ND/BSc/MSc) in Chemistry or related
    • ~5 years working experience in a commercial testing lab using GC-MS & LC-MS
    • Previous experience in an ISO 17025 accredited lab + validation of methods
    • Expertise in environmental sample testing & analytical chemistry methods
    • Strong problem-solving ability, self-motivated, accurate, hard-working team player
    • Outstanding communication skills in English, strong computer literacy
    • South African citizen with a driver’s license & own vehicle
    • Must already reside in the Cape region & able to commute to Paarl daily (M-F)
