An exciting opportunity exists for a Product Applications Technologist with strong hands-on experience in product development & processing technologies across meat, baking, & plant-based / vegan applications. This role is ideal for a technically adept individual who enjoys working close to production, machinery & customers, proactively solving problems and translating concepts into commercially viable products.

Salary: Market-related (includes benefits)
Note: Role requires strength to easily lift up 20kg while working, includes full use of PPE and being able to physically handle cold working temperatures daily.
DETAILS
A well-established company operating within food ingredients, casings, spices, & processing solutions is seeking a Product Applications Technologist to support new product development, customer trials, & application testing for both local & international markets. The role is highly practical & involves laboratory, pilot, & factory-based work, supporting sales & NPD teams through product trials, installations, & technical customer engagement. Key responsibilities include: Supporting product development & application trials for fresh, processed, baked, & plant-based products; Translating customer & NPD briefs into trial plans, recipes, & test protocols; Preparing product mixes, operating processing equipment, & running application trials; Evaluating ingredients, processing parameters, & sensory attributes of finished products; Documenting trial outcomes, compiling technical reports, & maintaining project databases; Providing technical support during customer trials, equipment installations, & scale-up activities; Assessing customer factory setups & making process improvement recommendations; Managing process-related queries & collaborating closely with sales, NPD, & applications teams.
REQUIREMENTS
- BSc Hons / MSc in Food Technology / Food Science / Chemistry (or relevant degree)
- 3 years working experience in within meat processing environments (advantageous)
- Exposure to processing technologies & food manufacturing equipment
- Strong sensory evaluation skills & attention to product quality
- Confident communicator with good presentation skills in English
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, & able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle & willingness to travel to customer sites
- Mechanically & instrumentation minded, with a hands-on industrial approach
** Note products sampled & tasted, candidates need to be able to eat meat (incl. pork).NB: Role also requires physical strength to easily lift up 20kg while working, includes full use of PPE and being able to physically handle cold working temperatures daily.
