ESSENTIALS
BSc Hons/MSc Biochemistry + PLUS Working knowledge of scripting/programming concepts, using languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, .NET or similar OR a qualified Comp Sci /Software Engineer PLUS BSc Life Sci. Must have hand-held pipetting experience. Excellent communication & presentation skills. SA citizen, driver’s license, own transport, valid passport, willing to travel.
 
**CODING SKILLS TEST WILL BE CONDUCTED DURING INTERVIEW.

DETAILS
Our client is a well-established lab instrumentation and supplies distributor with customers based across SA & into Africa. This role involves technically assisting customers in the smooth running of their high-end robotic lab equipment & automated liquid handling instrumentation. Responsibilities of the role include providing pre- & post-sales support, ensuring customers specific instrument requirements & designs are met by leading the scripting (coding) implementation & customization of hardware configurations and user software interfaces. Other facets of the position include troubleshooting hardware & software issues, identifying root causes, essentially implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime and maximise system productivity. Delivering comprehensive training and creating documentation for continuous improvement & QA for the customers is integral to the role. Training provided; however, must have a strong understanding of liquid characteristics, hand-held pipetting experience & able to work with modular, procedural scripting, and able to implement robust error-handling routines in liquid-handling workflows.
 
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
  • BSc Hons/MSc Biochemistry/relevant +working knowledge of scripting/programming concepts, using languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, .NET OR Comp Sci/Software Eng WITH a BSc Life Sci
  • Previous liquid handling & pipetting experience within a lab environment  
  • Experience with object-oriented scripting, modular code structures & error handling
  • Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills for resolving complex technical or scripting issues
  • Comfortable working with large data sets, embedded functions & external libraries
  • Technically curious, solutions-driven & detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) in English
  • South African citizen with a passport & willing to travel frequently
  • Driver’s license, own transport
