ESSENTIALS
BSc Hons / MSc Life Science or Chemistry, 3+ yrs hands-on microscopy experience,
2–5 yrs+ sales experience in a related industry, excellent communication skills (English),
SA citizen with VALID passport, own car + driver’s license.
Strong determination to succeed & ability to conduct high-level presentations to various audiences.
Willing to travel into Sub-Saharan Africa.

Fantastic opportunity for a Scientist with a passion for sales & working with people. Our client is a well-established distributor of high-quality imported lab instruments & consumables. This Technical Sales post will oversee the microscopy & general chemistries portfolio. The role is office-based (when in SA) and includes travel to lab-focused customers & distributors in Africa. The purpose of the position is to grow the existing client base by proactively developing new business, meeting with customers, networking & generating leads, & implementing strategic sales and marketing plans for their state-of-the-art product ranges. The role is well supported by a dynamic export sales team, and support staff (incl. product managers, application specialists & field service engineers). If you love the challenge of breaking into new markets and providing excellent service and technical support, this position is for you!
This company holds licenses for product-lines applied in the Biotech, Chemical; & Health Science industries in SA and various markets on the African continent, including Zimbabwe, Uganda, Malawi, Ghana and some East African countries.
REQUIREMENTS
- BSc Hons / MSc in Life Sciences / Chemistry / related discipline
- 3 yrs’ hands on lab experience using microscopes / microscopy applications
- 2+ yrs sales experience in the relevant industry, (export experience advantageous)
- Highly skilled in communicating + presenting to audiences in English
- Motivated to succeed with excellent sales + negotiation skills
- Attention to detail, strong administrative & highly developed people skills
- Code 08 Drivers license & OWN CAR
- VALID PASSPORT + willing to travel out of SA
