ESSENTIALS
BSc/ND/BTech in Food Technology / Food Science plus 1 ~ 5 yrs working experience in product development + application focused on alcoholic beverages and/or energy drinks. SA Food Legislation knowledge is required, as is tasting of a variety of food & alcoholic beverages. SA citizen, driver’s license & own vehicle. Advantageous: SAP experience & residing in CT Northern Suburbs/Paarl.

DETAILS
Our client, a global producer of food & beverage ingredients are looking to employ a new product developer to work on developing new recipes for customers & innovation projects, matching products, & further developing existing products. This role forms part of the application team that is driven to meet customer needs by developing commercial products, preparing application samples, & managing the administration & recording process.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing development projects, preparing application & development samples, performing analytical checks, selecting & sampling flavours, researching new ingredients, developing formulations, all while keeping costs & raw materials in mind. The role requires good communication skills to liaise with various departments, including QA, sourcing & production, technical managers & sales team. Other typical responsibilities include sensory evaluations, compiling technical documentation, attending factory trials when required (including in house & external / customer site premises). All recipes & data are stored on SAP.
 
REQUIREMENTS
    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Food Technology or Food Science
    • At least 1 ~ 5 yrs working experience in product development in beverages
    • A passion for and experience with beverage innovation processes
    • Meticulous, hardworking, driven to succeed
    • Great communication & presentation skills
    • Driver’s license & own vehicle
